The Tower Pulse - Dec 11, 2017Stellar is one of my favorite tools for interactive graphics online. It allows you to showcase photos and cutlines in a way that really appeals to readers. I won 3rd place for this interactive graphic at the 2018 MIPA spring conference.

The Tower Pulse - Jan. 30, 2018Last year I had the opportunity to attend the International Auto Show in Detroit. Grace R., who is now Pulse Co-EIC, and I wanted to focus on online content, and thought Stellar would be a great way to showcase photos and information about the cars.

The Upstart - July 31, 2018This summer, I took The Upstart course during the MIPA summer workshop. I learned a lot and enjoyed the freedom we had to create content we were interested in. I focused on multimedia projects like this infographic because I didn't have a lot of experience with them. I paired this piece with a video about dietary restrictions at MIPA.

The Upstart - Aug. 1, 2018While working with The Upstart during the MIPA Summer Workshop this year, I took advantage of some cool camera equipment and tried something new. Interviewing with a camera was pretty nerve wracking, but I enjoyed trying something I hadn't done before. This piece gave me some experience that has helped me coach other staffers through video editing this year.

The Upstart - Aug. 1, 2018Another new platform I explored at MIPA was radio. Zach H., Tower Radio Manager, and I came up with the idea to introduce the Upstart staff in a podcast. I enjoyed learning more about radio and pushing myself to try something new.

The Tower Pulse - thetowerpulse Spotify
One place where we saw the opportunity to connect with readers on The Tower Pulse was through music. This year I've really enjoyed creating playlists to share with the staff. This has been a really cool opportunity to connect with our readers and give them a glimpse into the Tower room, and I think introducing this idea now means Tower staffers will be able to use it in new ways later on.

The Looking Glass Social MediaAs Publicity Manager for The Looking Glass, our school's art and literary magazine, I have focused on promoting meetings and submissions through Instagram. I use art submitted by students to showcase what we're publishing ahead of time. I think the possibility of being featured makes students want to submit their work, and is a great reminder to actually attend meetings or submit.
